The (way of the) Peaceful Warrior

I was impressed and inspired by this one particular scene where Dan said, after tracking up the hill full of excitement, only to be disappointed when Soc told him they've reached the destination, and they were up to see a rock:

"The journey.
The journey is what brings us happiness,
not the destination".

People often said when they get something/someone/somewhere, they'll be happy. Maybe it's true, but will they be happy forever? People will always want more, want to be better, want something different (and when they don't, the game's over).

"If you don't get what you want, you suffer;
if you get what you don't want, you suffer;
even when you get exactly what you want,
you still suffer
because you can't hold on to it forever.
Your mind is your predicament.
It wants to be free of change.
Free of pain, free of the obligations of life and death.
But change is a law,
and no amount of pretending will alter that reality." - Dan Millman

When they get something/someone/somewhere, they will be happy for a while. In fact, maybe not at all, because it might not have turned out the way they expected it to be. But the whole excitement and the joy - they're all in the journey. A tear rolled down my cheek upon recollection of the journey I had. But those were the past, let bygones be bygones; so I have grieved about it for a second or two, but I will focus on the present. The now.

"The ones who are hardest to love are usually the ones who need it the most."

I've loved him in my way. It was hard loving him, but it was worthwhile. I've no regrets. What is love, but just a state of mind. What is disappointment and sadness, but a state of mind.

"Pain is a relatively objective, physical phenomenon; suffering is our psychological resistance to what happens. Events may create physical pain, but they do not in themselves create suffering. Resistance creates suffering. Stress happens when your mind resists what is...The
only problem in your life is your mind's resistance to life as it unfolds" - Dan Millman.

And we'll always carry on our journey in life.

"A warrior does not give up what he loves,
he finds the love in what he does"

And there is no gain, without pain.

"Every positive change--every jump to a higher level of energy and awareness--involves a rite of passage. Each time to ascend to a higher rung on the ladder of personal evolution, we must go through a period of discomfort, of initiation. I have never found an exception" - D. Millman.

Socrates: Where are you?
Dan Millman: Here.
Socrates: What time is it?
Dan Millman: Now.
Socrates: What are you?
Dan Millman: This moment.
